philippians 4:10-13

we will revisit philippians one more time before these thirty days of devotion are through so if it happens to be your favourite book of the bible ( one of my favourite verses is in this particular passage) hang in there cos we’ll be right back with you shortly 😉

😉

how I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again.

I know you have always been concerned for me but you didn’t have the chance to help me.

not that I was ever in need for I have learned to be content with whatever I have.

I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything.

I have learned the secret of living in every situation whether it is with a full stomach or empty with plenty or little.

for I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.

🙂

we should always be concerned for others.

we should not let our concern turn into worry however.

whatever is stressing us out we should simply take it to the Lord in prayer.

He says call upon me and I will answer you I will provide for you a doorway of escape.

there are often times when we want to assist people but we lack the finances to pull them out of a pickle.

as the tears of compassion trickle down your cheeks take a moment of compassion to seek the Lord about their issue.

God can use your prayers as a powerful and effective weapon against the enemy.

God uses us to pull down strongholds and He can utilize us as tools to set the captives free.

often we are in want but we can confuse it for being in need.

we are only ever in need if we are outside of a state of peace that comes from knowing our future is safeguarded in heaven.

when people think of their needs they don’t often consider perhaps the only thing they are truly in need of is repentance in order to receive freedom from their current struggle.

God doesn’t despise a broken spirit or a contrite heart but listens to our cries.

often it is easy for us to be ungrateful and to demand more than what God has already given us.

when I was used to having hot showers all the time and a bed elevated above the ground to sleep in it took me some getting used to to adjust to life on outreach when I was on a missions trip when we had to sleep on mattresses and have cold showers with a curtain made of palm leaves and use a bucket to splash water over ourselves .

at the time I would have benefited from the heavenly minded perspective that some have to walk to a river to bathe themselves, they never possess the luxury of hot water and they don’t even have a mattress on a concrete slab to sleep on just the cold ground.

I may not have a girlfriend but I praise the Lord for the blessing of my friends.

and the family members He has given me which are still alive and breathing despite the uncertain future of their life beyond the grave.

I praise God my folks know HIm intimately and that I have friends who also share the same passion for HIm I do even in some cases and on occasion in greater measure and being in possession of more excitement for the things of HIm than I always have the strength within myself to muster.

but though I get flustered and lose my lustre and bluster about the place His face is always available for the seeking His spirit is never far from my side His assistance is only one call away .

I have tested the theory of living on almost nothing.

although you may become irritable from lack of energy and due to your hunger caused by an insufficient diet you can have enough to survive on a couple of dollars a day which will buy you a simple can of tuna and a slice of pita bread.

it is hard to be full of smiles when your stomach is completely empty of food.

it is difficult to keep your ears open for other peoples business when they’re pouring out their hearts when you haven’t gotten a decent amount of sleep.

still with God’s help all feats of endurance are possible.

yes even lifting your kid out from under a car or pulling someone up off the railway tracks with only a few seconds to spare before they get crushed.

any sudden adrenalin rush we possess that may appear super human is in fact precisely that but we cannot credit the source to human origins but only to the power of God suddenly surging through somebody when they tap into God’s strength.

because of His son’s death on the cross there is no limits on what we can achieve.

His power and strength is made perfect in our moments of weakness.

Ephesians 6 : 13-18

therefore put on every piece of Gods armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil.

then after the battle you will still be standing firm.

Stand your ground putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of Gods righteousness.

For shoes put on the peace that comes from the good news so that you will be fully prepared.

In addition to all of these hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.

Put on salvation as your helmet and take the sword of the spirit which is the word of God.

Pray in the spirit at all times and on every occasion.

Stay alert and be persistent in your prayer for all believers everywhere.

😁

We cannot expect God to protect us from harm unless our spirits are wearing every single piece of His armor.

We wouldn’t go into battle in a physical war without being fully equipped.

How much more essential is it to keep our spiritual weapons handy when the spiritual battle counts for more than the physical cos this life is but a droplet in the ocean of eternity.

We attack wickedness and lies by focusing on God’s truth and righteousness.

His word is the ultimate guide to truth.

We can counteract the onslaught of the enemy by simply focusing on God’s peace.

We have to recognize people coming against us bringing accusations accurate or ludicrous for what it is the work of satan.

Retaliate and target the devil motivating those who falsely perceive themselves as your enemies.

Put out the fire of their insults by throwing a bucket of water on it giving them undeserved compliments even if you have to do it through gritted teeth.

Very few will persist in pursuing those who declare a ceasefire and extend the hand of friendship.

Your best weapon against doubt or trusting your own judgment more than God’s is your simple seed of faith in Him which has taken root inside your heart and continually yields fruit in your life.

Salvation guards your mind against damnation.

the more you focus on what Christ has saved you from the less room you will make in your mind for temptation cos it’s already crammed full of godliness.

This godliness also includes holy fear which as we know is the Genesis of practical wisdom and the catalyst for its zenith.

You don’t need to talk in tongues to pray in the spirit you just have to walk pure and blameless before the Lord.

If you are a man or lady of unclean lips you aren’t speaking the Holy Spirits language you are chatting in the devils twisted dialect instead.

God may understand you but He communicates more intimately with those who seek His favor by displaying a lifestyle that’s pleasing in His sight.

We must be on our guard cos the devil is like a lion seeking victims to devour.

Some think persistence in prayer means screaming at the top of your lungs with long winded prayers but God is not deaf.

He can hear your tiny whispers just as much as those who communicate with Him at the volume of a thunderstorm.

Your stereo doesn’t decrease in power depending on your volume.

Neither do your prayers.

Persistence and consistency is the key.

Don’t just pray frequently and often pray without ceasing.

You should never be stressing over what to pray about when God commands us to intercede for His intervention on behalf of all current and potential believers.

A prayer can be as basic as Lord i hope they are ok please take care of them step in and get them to step up.

He doesn’t even need us to direct our heavenly mail properly for Him to deliver us from the influence and interference of the evil one.

Unless your prayer is one of salvation cos john 14:6 tells us only Jesus Christ is able to save the lost.

Rejoice if you can consider yourself among the found.

If you see yourself as more of an aint than a saint be assured i am making mention of you in my private correspondence with our ever loving Lord of life and love ⛪⚓

philippians 4:18-20

at the moment I have all I need and more !

I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with epaphroditus.

they are a sweet smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.

and this same God who takes care of me will supply your needs according to His glorious riches which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

now all glory to God our father forever and ever !

amen

🙂

it is true that if you have Jesus living in your heart you possess everything you need in this life and beyond.

now you may not have enough food to make the next meal you will need to keep yourself from starvation but in the scheme of things that matters less than the fact that you have a glorious home waiting for you in heaven which is guaranteed yours as long as you maintain a state of sinless perfection.

those who think this is impossible to obtain are also chained to the lie that there are some sins which God finds impossible to forgive which simply isn’t true.

excepting of course the unforgivable sin which is grieving the Holy Spirit.

it is my understanding that this involves completely rejecting any possibility of God or acting in a debased and hedonistic manner mocking God as if His grace gives you a blank cheque to sin incessantly with no remorse.

may our lives smell sweet to the nostrils of our maker and not a pungent stench.

Jesus’ death on the cross becomes for us like a credit card with no limit on how much we can purchase providing of course that the things we desire for ourselves align with His will.

it is rare that He will provide the opportunity to go on a spending spree and shop til we drop but as for the basic every day needs of food and shelter, clothing and fresh clean water for drinking , bathing and ablutions God has given us more than adequate supply all around us.

yes some of us may have to travel a little further than others for our water.

that is why God needs those with plenty to help supply the needs of those who lack.

or else their blood is literally on our hands if God gives us a means to meet a need and we turn a blind eye at the sight of their suffering souls.

may our lives ever echo the strains of this last verse and bring glory to our creator and loving saviour in everything we do or say.

may God provide for the needs of everyone in the world so we never suffer lack or hunger.

may He guide us to be wise in our budgeting and not spend money we don’t have so we don’t get ourselves in debt up to our eyeballs and drown in a sea of unpaid bills.

remember when your situation seems impossible God has the final say on the matter.

when He says yes nobody can say no.

what He promises He is faithful to bring into completion.

those who give to the poor lend to the Lord.

the Lord stores up the wealth of the wicked for the righteous.

God rewards those with a diligent attitude and a good work ethic.

God loves a cheerful giver.

do not give with one hand wishing you could pull it back with the other.

do not doubt for one moment that God is able to supply all your needs.

nothing is impossible for Him.

peace and prosperity shall be yours in Jesus name.

He will not see the righteous forsaken nor HIs young ones begging for bread.

may we be faithful in helping out our friends in their hour of desperation and allow God to continually prove His faithfulness to us by filling to abundance the storehouses of the generous.

does God give out of obligation or a sense of duty that binds Him to magnanimousness ?

no it is part of His nature to share and sacrifice to give when it hurts for He gave the greatest gift when He sacrificed His son to save humanity.

He displays no evidence of regretting that decision or to offer Him up begrudgingly but He counted it all joy knowing the result- the ginormous harvest of souls His death on the cross would produce.

let us be good stewards of the resources God has given us.

let us walk in a benevolent spirit trusting that God hasn’t failed us yet and isn’t about to anytime soon !

luke 6:37-42

do not judge others and you will not be judged.

do not condemn others or it will all come back against you.

forgive others and you will be forgiven.

give and you will receive.

your gift will return to you in full pressed down shaken together to make room for more running over and poured into your lap.

the amount you give will determine the amount you get back.

then Jesus gave the illustration can one blind person lead another?

won’t they both fall into a ditch?

students are not greater than their teacher.

but the student who is fully trained shall become like the teacher.

and why worry about a speck in your brother’s eye when you have a log in your own eye?

how can you think of saying friend let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye when you can’t see past the log in your own eye?

hypocrite !

first get rid of the log in your own eye then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your own eye.

🙂

when Jesus tells us not to judge others He doesn’t mean do not speak the truth in love cos He encourages us to exhort our brothers and sisters daily.

we are meant to urge the godliness in each other to emerge.

what we are not meant to do is to dismiss others potential for redemption or write them off while they are still breathing even if they are displaying no evidence of a life that’s willing to change and accept Christ’s miracle working power to transform their lives.

we all know pac has twisted this verse into the philosophy of only God can judge me making allowance for all kinds of sins.

the truth is if those people who say only God can judge me were judged by God they wouldn’t allow HIm the right to judge them either- if it was ever up to them to decide whether He is in a position to judge them and that will never happen cos they didn’t create Him just the opposite.

the only people for whom there is no hope are those who have deliberately shut their ears to the message of the gospel who go to the grave denying Christ exists who do not allow His words of truth and life and hope and joy to affect them and effect change in their lives.

this doesn’t mean God can’t use them even in their darkened mind states He just can’t break His own rules for them and let them into heaven unless they repent and decide they are finished with the prison sentence of a life lived without revelling in the glory of His presence.

we don’t like it when others put us down diss us or dismiss us as being incapable of greatness when our best efforts don’t seem to be good enough for them when others throw dirt in our faces when they assume because of the company we keep that there is corruption present in us controlling our every move or judge us by our past determining its gonna be our future despite Jehovah being in possession of knowledge to the contrary.

it is the hardest thing in the world not just to say I forgive you but to cancel out all memory in your mind of the evil they have done to you.

as far as the east is from the west that’s how far Christ has removed our transgressions from us.

He buries them in His deep forgetful sea.

He doesn’t keep reminding us of our sins that’s the devils job.

He does point a way out of our struggles however .

he or she who has been forgiven of much must forgive much in turn.

it has been well said that forgiveness is a gift we give both to others and ourselves.

bitterness and hatred has been proven to kill people by giving them stress and anxiety .

when we focus all our energy on the evil others have done to us we waste our time and short circuit our potential to be used by God to expand His kingdom.

He says don’t go into my house to worship if you have something against your father or mother or sister or brother or aunty or uncle or cousin or niece or nephew or step family member or homie or one who is determined to die labelled as your enemy.

we must first get it sorted between those who are giving us a reason to grumble then come into God’s house refreshed and ready to worship.

no flesh may glory in His presence.

our minds must be cleared of all distractions obstacles or stumbling blocks preventing us from entering into His throne room of worship with a pure heart.

remember He does not despise a broken heart but He will not accept an impure sacrifice.

He looked more favourably on the prayers of the tax collector who acknowledged his sins than He did on the Pharisee who was boasting vaingloriously about how wonderful he was in comparison to the dirty rotten scumbag who was known to cheat people by charging more for their taxes so he could pocket the extra for himself sitting/ prostrated on the temple floor next to him.

sometimes God gives to you without you having to first give away your possessions to others.

you can never give Him anything that doesn’t already belong to HIm in the first place anyway.

so if you don’t give to Him you are actually stealing from Him not from people.

He only asks us to give a small portion back of what already belongs to Him.

God blesses the righteous with material wealth as well as the wicked so what is this passage really talking about?

lets let scripture answer scripture and make the connection if you will to Gods treasures in heaven where moth and rust cannot destroy and where thieves cannot break in and steal.

let us consider for a moment which is better to have your reward on earth and to leave it behind when you leave this planet or to have a treasure that lasts beyond this life that no one no tax man no thief no greedy relative can ever trick out of your fingers.

Jesus didn’t consider greatness something to be grasped but made Himself of no reputation in order to save the world.

He debased Himself to lift us higher beyond the stars.

and in lowering Himself in humility He was no less God than when He began breathing the universe to life.

I have to say that the principle of sowing and reaping demonstrated in this passage does work.

I have seen God return to me the exact same amount I have given to others.

I just want to focus on the fact that eternal life is a treasure greater than any scale can measure.

if we don’t empty ourselves out and give generously God has given us no reason to bless us.

when He blesses those still walking in darkness He is just trying to get their attention by showing them what He can do while they refuse to acknowledge the fact they are only breathing cos Omega permits it.

unless I read God’s word daily and keep my ears open to His voice I am just a spiritually deafened and blind man pulling others into a ditch.

I am no better than that man that causes children to stumble who deserves to have a millstone thrown around his neck and tossed in the ocean blue.

yet that is not my destiny cos Christ is ultimately in charge of it as long as I allow Him to sit behind the wheel of every single decision I make.

being trained by God is a lifetime process.

some people buy the lie that sticking money in the offering bucket will save them from hell.

don’t get it twisted God can use your money even if you give it with wrong motives but no matter how big a mountain of money you pile at the foot of the cross it wont get you into heaven only a heart that is pure and fully devoted to Him to let HIm be the boss of our morality and sexuality and let HIm lead us away from trouble in our choices as we bend our will towards the direction of HIs holiness.

it is often easy for us to see fault in others rather than to see it in ourselves.

this is what we must always do when we are pointing out the wrong in others.

we have to bring that equalizer and show them from the story of our own lives how the choices we made led to bad consequences or if we have no examples from our own lives that immediately come to mind we should use someone elses story to help them see how hopeless purposeless and worthless life without Christ ultimately is.

people will just think we are being demeaning and patronizing if we can only see the sin in others and never in ourselves.

they will not want to change until they can obviously recognize how Jesus has redeemed our lives and visualize what He has saved us from and how much better and brighter our future now is since we put it in His hands.

Lord Jesus please remove the logs from our eyes so we can possess the ability to remove the specks from others vision.

I have no ability to be a visionary unless I have the spirit of the one who raised Himself from the dead and envisioned the world in HIs mental blueprint living in me .

colossians 3:5-12

so put to death the sinful earthly things lurking within you.

have nothing to do with sexual immorality impurity lust and evil desires.

don’t be greedy for a greedy person is an idolater worshipping the things of this world.

because of these things the anger of God is coming.

you used to do these things when your life was still part of this world.

but now is the time to get rid of anger, rage and malicious behaviour slander and dirty language

don’t lie to each other for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.

put on your new nature and be renewed as you learn to become like your creator and know Him.

in this new life it doesn’t matter if you are a jew or a gentile circumcised or uncircumcised barbaric uncivilized slave or free.

Christ is all that matters and He lives in all of us.

since God chose you to be the holy people He loves you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy kindness humility gentleness and patience.

🙂

I want to put my sinful desires to death yet don’t know how to do it.

with paul I echo the painful strained plea my spirit is willing yet my flesh is weak.

there is a war that goes on within my members.

that which I desire to do is what I end up not doing and that which I don’t desire to do ends up becoming exactly what I do.

in truth I know what to do to avoid falling into the trap of sin but often my desire to sin and the pleasure I find in it is stronger than my desire to do right and stay pure and avoid the guilt that immediately follows my sinful thinking or activities.

I know that God has provided a door of escape for all of us so we don’t yield to temptation.

this passage corresponds to galatians 2:20 where paul talks about being crucified with Christ so he no longer lives but Jesus Christ lives in him.

for the life he lives in the body he lives by faith in the son of God who loves him and gave Himself for him.

it also connects with romans 12:1 which urges us to present our bodies as living sacrifices holy and acceptable unto God and to not be conformed to the ways of the world but  to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

often it helps to surround yourself with other Christians to make a conscious effort to make sure the majority of people you interact with are other believers for it is said in the word of God that bad company corrupts good character therefore if you want to have good character you have to surround yourself with virtual noble spiritually uplifting morally upright and godly company people whose speech is clean and whose actions reflect the glory of God who don’t contradict or rail against Gods word but actively support promote it and live it out in their daily lives.

this is not to say we should completely isolate ourselves from the world cos we are called to be in the world just not of it.

we have to learn how to foster a separate identity inside the confines of the environment Gods placed us in to know that we have a citizenship in heaven and an identity that transcends beyond it.

it doesn’t say to stay away from sexually immoral people just from the desire to commit sexual sin so if we feel ourselves being tugged in that direction we should politely make excuses and leave while attempting to avoid trampling on toes and disrespecting in the process of speaking truth in love ( it is possible to speak the truth in love and still maintain respect for the dignity of human life by not insulting someones intelligence).

we do not always think of greed as idol worship but it is true that when we think of our own needs more than others when we are continually pursuing the goal of satisfying our own desires even at the expense of someone else suffering then we are behaving selfishly and walking in the opposite spirit of Gods selfless nature .

essentially we are either making an idol of ourselves or the object of our desire which takes the place of God in importance in our lives.

the wrath of God is guaranteed in the bible.

it will arrive to exact revenge upon those whose hearts are turned against God who have rejected either the possibility that He exists or the command He has given us to walk in obedience to Him being ignorant or callous regarding the fact that obedience is attached to blessing and disobedience to cursing , eternal damnation and separation from the beauty of His ability to comfort us and bring us joy unceasing.

I have to wake up to myself.

am I part of the world or am I part of God?

if I act like the world I have no part in God, His kingdom or His glorious inheritance.

I want to be a friend of God not an enemy of God or a stranger to God.

I do not want to be among the goats discussed in matthew 25 where He remarks depart from me I never knew you.

many who say Lord Lord will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

if we deny Christ on earth He will deny us as His children before His father in heaven.

slander is talking about other people making up lies about them which have no basis in fact.

the difference between gossip and slander is gossip can be proven though it is true that both are equally evil and contemptible in God’s sight.

we must be careful not to talk down about other people and spread rubbish about them under the guise of sharing a prayer request.

it is best not to reveal details about somebodys life especially if they have revealed it to us in confidence in the understanding that we do not share it with others as this is regarded as a betrayal of trust and as Christians we are called to be worthy of trust instead of people you can’t count on to stick by your side in a crisis.

we are not called to be fickle pickles or fair weather friends but faithful and steadfast reflecting Christ in the way we maintain our companionship.

dirty language can include swearing blasphemy double-entendres any rude smutty or sexual talk that is demeaning to your own gender as well as the opposite language that debases and dismisses peoples worth valuing them only for what they can contribute sexually instead of seeing them as a whole person looking at their personality and character and the ways in which they reflect God’s heart.

the rage they are discussing involves exclusively unrighteous anger and doesn’t include the kind of passionate holy fury that Jesus had when He overturned the tables and kicked the money lenders out of the temple for preventing the alien citizens or foreigners from worshipping in the temple of God forcing them to use a special currency exclusively used by the temple.

it is my personal belief that this sin is being repeated in the usage of bit coins only it is slightly worse as it is not just foreigners but all believers who are being subjected to this detestable practice in certain circles.

we all know what unholy rage is when you beat up on your spouse or yell at them incessantly when you throw things at people shoot them cut them hurt them and succeed more in making yourself look contemptible in their sight than showing them the error of their ways amplifying the rottenness of the situation you may both be experiencing as a result of the circumstances of life ( yours or other people’s actions).

it has often been said that honesty is the best policy.

some see it as excusable to lie to protect others from being hurt but it is actually more hurtful to be dishonest in every circumstance.

for example if you tell your child their dead grandpa is sleeping he or she will always be waiting for them to wake up and wonder why they never rouse from their slumber.

far better to be honest from the start and have those painful difficult conversations.

lying shows a lack of trust in God and a contemptuous character.

in God’s eyes there is no such thing as a little white lie.

we are urged by God’s word to keep our promises and let our yes be yes and our no be no.

this is something I have had to work on for the longest time and I am not there yet.

in my desire to be liked I have often made outlandish claims , oaths to help somebody out that I was not able to deliver on.

people talk about being too honest for your own good but that is a false saying.

you can never be too honest and the more you are owned by goodness the better you will be.

if you lose friends for your honesty and get rejected by family they were never meant to be a part of your life to begin with and you are better off without them.

I am living proof that God can replace those people who decide to walk out of your life because they can’t handle the truth you are delivering to them from the most High and attempt to shoot the messenger knowing they would be kicking themselves in the face even more so attempting the futile task of destroying the master and commander of all creation.

I want to know my creator and become like Him.

I want to strip off the weight of sin that so easily entangles me.

I don’t want to return to my old ways like a dog continually revisits his sicked up lunch.

the circumcision of the heart or the evidence of a transformed life matters more to God than the circumcision of the flesh.

I love the fact that this passage promotes the racial unity we find best encapsulated in Christ Jesus.

though we are many we are one body in Christ.

the love of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set us free from the law of sin and death.

I’m glad God doesn’t care about whether we mind our manners in the sense of speaking with our mouth full, being couth keeping our elbows off the table looking people in the eyes when we are talking to them not interrupting conversations showing people we care about what they are saying not falling asleep in the middle of a conversation or walking away when somebody is in mid sentence.

our little cultural nuances matter less in the body of Christ than HIm Himself.

we do not have to conform to other peoples expectations of how we should behave within the context of a certain culture.

we need only be mindful that we conform to the image of God’s son.

its sad to see some people are slaves in the world today.

these people can draw comfort from the fact that if they know Christ they are freer than those who have  control over their own lives who don’t know the richness and the beauty of God’s love for them.

He breaks down the walls of divisions between jew greek slave or free male and female

in Him we find unity for He can only function in the self identifying community of three in one.

He was is and always will be three unique distinctive yet inseparable identities.

let us allow nothing to separate us from our love for Him though it forever rings true that neither death nor hell fire nor flood can remove us from the tender spot He has reserved for us inside His heart.

Christ only lives in us if we have chosen to be adopted into HIs family by repenting of our sins and acknowledging HIm as Lord and master of our lives and destinies.

it is amazing to think that it is even possible for us to be holy people when all we can see in ourselves is wretchedness and ugliness and the putrid stench of our sinful  behaviour and bad habits we feel incapable of breaking out of this side of heaven.

yet we know this truth that in Him all things are possible.

we must have faith like little children trusting completely that He will take care of us and He knows what’s best for us.

I know I am not always merciful kind humble gentle and patient yet Christ commands me to strip off worldliness and clothe myself with these things.

I think we can all agree that to act with cruelty to be rough and mean to others to be short with them and fly off the handle to throw a temper tantrum when we don’t get our own way to allow murderous thoughts to fester within us when we have to wait an extra minute in the drive through for our cheeseburger etc is not godly behaviour or at least we can all agree that it is not right and that if we are known to do these things and think in this way then we must change.

sometimes wearing humility as our cloak so it covers our whole identity means choosing to remain silent when we could just as easily speak our mind and share our piece.

it also means being humble enough to admit when we are wrong and not stubbornly refusing to say sorry when we know we have messed up royally.

it can also mean knowing we are in the right and yet deciding to keep our lips zipped to defuse the argument of someone spoiling for a fight who will just be wasting our breath cos we know they won’t listen to us anyway no matter how convincing our arguments.

now some may call this a defeatist attitude but if we are known as people who don’t always have to fight back and force our opinion on others they are more likely to welcome our take on what is going on in the world.

this usually happens if we have given people a reason to respect us if they can see the integrity of our hearts displayed by our actions towards others.

the following verses talk about how love binds us in perfect harmony.

it is the much needed rope or unbreakable cord that keeps us from falling apart over silly little things that don’t matter in the scheme of things.

the more we exercise forgiveness towards ourselves and others the quicker this planet will become more Christ like .

so let’s get to it people.

though the road be hard we have a merciful wonderful saviour who is the complete absence of evil who only means to help us and never to harm us who only ever thinks good pure thoughts towards us.

let us think the same of others.

what a joy it is to know that our God from whom all blessings flow loves us beyond measure and that He makes room for diversity of cultures , worship styles and ways of running our families

🙂

mark 16:15-20

and then He told them go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone.

anyone who  believes and is baptized shall be saved.

but anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.

these miraculous signs will accompany those who believe : they will cast out demons in my name and they will speak in new languages.

they will be able to handle snakes with safety and if they drink anything poisonous it won’t hurt them.

they will be able to place their hands on the sick and they will be healed.

when the Lord Jesus had finished talking to them He was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honour at God’s right hand.

and the disciples went everywhere and preached and the Lord worked through them confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.

🙂

even though this passage is talking about being able to handle snakes without getting bitten or without coming to harm’s way I still wouldn’t go out of my way to touch one or have one wrapped around my neck.

God doesn’t want us to deliberately put ourselves in the way of danger.

He merely reassures us that He has the ability to deliver and heal us if we find ourselves in a spot of bother.

this passage concerns the occasion when Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to His disciples in His glorified body before He ascended into heaven.

we are yet to see the gospel being spread like a blanket to every single country on earth.

this is partly because of some countries that are openly hostile to outsiders, some tribal groups who have other people in their way blocking the spread of the gospel and at other times simply because of our laziness or fear of man being in greater measure to our fear of God.

other hindrances can be a lack of language training and financial resources to sustain a long term mission until the people have developed to a level of self sufficiency where they can thrive and keep the gospel light burning bright without outside assistance.

although we become saved when we are baptized and accept Jesus’ forgiveness for our s ins we can lose our salvation the second we walk outside the will of God and make decisions which contradict His eternal stance of moral purity.

to get back in right standing with Him is as simple as getting down on our knees begging for forgiveness and turning our heels around , not spitting in the face of His grace by continuing in sin when we have been made aware of its affect on us to condemn us and deprive us of the eternal blessings of His covenant being brought to fruition in fullest measure beyond the stars.

we have been given plenty of chances throughout our lives to acknowledge that God exists therefore if we don’t get to heaven at the end of our journey we have no one else to blame but ourselves.

even if others lead us into false erroneous heretical teaching we are the ones who ultimately decide whether we allow ourselves to be brainwashed into falsehood or if we refuse to listen to the lies of the enemy and keep our eyes fixed firmly on God’s truth not wavering no matter how great the temptation or dangling carrot placed under our nose may be.

we must remember when we refuse the prizes of this life that there is a far greater prize waiting for us beyond the shores of paradise.

I have never cast a demon out of anyone and I do not speak in tongues on a daily basis but I have spoken in tongues before and I have seen demons being cast out of people and I know if I wasn’t connecting with God’s spirit I wouldn’t have been able to have been delivered from demonic oppression when I was regularly getting nightmares.

I don’t think I am any less saved than those who have great deliverance ministries.

some of us may be used by God to deliver people of demonic influence in ways they will never recognize or publically acknowledge and that is perfectly fine cos we have a crown of glory and robes of righteousness waiting for us in heaven that are far  better than any glowing jewel this world can ever offer.

God does not want us to test Him by drinking poison to see if it kills us.

Jesus told satan you shall not tempt the Lord your God.

in this statement He was reaffirming that although satan had not submitted to His authority as master and commander of the universe Jesus still possessed the ability to make satan do whatever He wanted and satan can only ever do anything if God grants him permission to do so.

if we believe in Jesus then this scripture reminds us that accidentally swallowing poison is not something for us to worry about because as we know when there was poison in the pot the prophet prayed and God removed the poison without anyone getting sick.

even if He doesn’t choose to remove poison from our pots we have an amazing place of glory and grace waiting for us beyond the gates of this life so we need not stress about the troublesome turbulence of present circumstances.

He is up there and in us and He is taking care of business.

we don’t actually have to place our hands on sick people for them to get healed.

the power of God is not limited by whether or not we make physical contact with people or even if they know we are praying  for them- He can just zap them from across the street.

perhaps this is recommended as a visible reference point so we can see that God is being channelled through our bodies into the person in need so they will always know in their minds they were delivered by a force from a source from a being they are capable of having a relationship with beyond themselves.

the devil can mimic healing but anyone who God allows him to release from sickness is brought into bondage being controlled by demonic oppression and you will see it is like a dog when you allow it to go so far on the leash before you pull it back with a choke chain and restrict its freedom- there is no true freedom in counterfeit miracles ( any that come about as a result of any religion or cult other than Christianity) , there is only slavery and destruction at the end of that journey.

I have seen people get healed right before my very eyes.

my sister was healed of eczema my guinea pigs werye healed of skin disease also.

praise the Lord for all His wonderful miracles taking place all around the world twenty four seven.

if salvation can be considered the greatest miracle of all then I thank the Lord that He has enabled me to encourage those who once struggled blindly groping in the darkness to find the light of Christ’s love and get their feet back on the straight and narrow.

it is hard to imagine that wonderful spectacular mind boggling sight of Jesus rising suddenly into the air and disappearing into the clouds.

I can imagine the disciples and all Jesus’ followers staring  transfixed at the sky  for a good while hardly being able to believe their eyes and weeping over the fact that He who was once with them whose presence completely transformed their world and ours was now gone.

yet that was not the end of the story, not by a long shot, for He sent His Holy Spirit as a comforter and powerhouse to dwell within the hearts of all who believe and trust Him wholeheartedly.

the right hand is a symbol of authority and God’s authority is represented in Jesus and vice versa for the son of God was never known to do anything His father didn’t do and would never act merely on HIs own authority but only that which had been commanded and permitted by direct edict ushered from His holy throne.

we know some of the places the disciples went to preach.

Thomas wound up in india getting stoned to death which subsequently led to the conversion of many who were former higher caste hindus and have now been perpetuating the culture of Christianity for many centuries.

john as we know ended up in the island of patmos where he wrote the book of revelation and peter is traditionally thought to have been crucified upside down in rome cos he didn’t want to die the same way as his Lord considering himself unworthy of dying in the same manner.

it must be said when Jesus commanded peter on this rock I will build my church He was talking about Himself not peter.

we are the little stones that God uses to build His church.

🙂

He is the living stone and the solid rock , our firm  foundation and the hope of our salvation who is living and breathing in us.

God’s word is confirmed by His miracle working power.

if you have not seen any miracles take place in your life other than that last breath God gave you and you believe in Jesus remember that they will know we are Christians by the love we display towards one another.

even this in itself is a miracle.

people will say look at them with everything that’s going on in their lives they are still keeping their chins up and smiling at each other it has to be a miracle.

when you have faith in Jesus it doesn’t matter how difficult circumstances get because we know He is able to toss the mountains of our bothersome situations into the sea.

and there is no sin we are dealing with too big for Him to conquer.

if we are just willing to play our little hand into His big and mighty hand and let Him use us to do His will.

be followers of God my fellow little child like faith hearts and walk in love towards God and one another !

ephesians 1:15-23

ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God’s people everywhere

I have not stopped thanking God for you.

I pray for you constantly asking God the glorious father of our Lord Jesus Christ to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.

I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope He has given to those He called, His holy people who are His rich and glorious inheritance.

I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for those who believe Him.

this is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honour at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.

now He is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else not only in this world but also in the world to come.

God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church.

and the church is His body, it is made  full and complete by Christ who fills all things everywhere with Himself.

🙂

our love for God is expressed in how we demonstrate love to people in the way we think about them, the way we act towards them and what we speak to them.

if we treat them with respect we are following in the footsteps of Christ and being a true and pure reflection of His heart.

we must be careful to daily strengthen our faith by filling our hearts and minds with God’s word.

yes even a weak faith can move mountains but it is more susceptible to attacks of the enemy so the more we build up our spirit man or the Christ like consciousness inside of us of a soul that has been redeemed from the enemy’s schemes the easier we will find it to fight against the enemy.

He will come against us harder and harder and change his tactics on us all the time but the more we have hidden God’s word in our hearts the easier we will find it not to sin against our Lord and master Jesus.

I will be the first to admit I have plenty of time on my hands yet I don’t use enough of it wisely to get on my knees and go to war on behalf of my friends and family who are in need of salvation, financial assistance, protection from abuse or help in other forms of crisis.

praise God that we have Jesus our advocate pleading before His father day and night on our behalf to show us grace and mercy even though we don’t deserve it and yes that includes the man who works in an orphanage all his life as well as the lady who sells her body on the street cos she doesn’t have a college education or enough food to fill her family’s starving bellies in a country which doesn’t have any welfare state to drip feed her needs.

the glory of the father is reflected in God’s son and vice versa.

we see every dad and mum beams with pride when their little one achieves something cos it makes them look good by association.

we do not know about the blood sweat and tears sleepless nights and financial sacrifices behind those achievements.

how much more pride then would the heavenly father take in His heavenly son in the accomplishments of His miracles or the bloody wonder of salvation of all mankind achieved on the cross?

there are not enough books in history as john has previously reminded us in his gospel to write down all the amazing events that occurred at the hands of Jesus which defied rational explanation or the ability to explain away with logic how they naturally took place.

we need the practical wisdom of how to feed clothe dress ourselves and in dire straits build ourselves shelters out of raw materials and start a fire to hunt and gather yet we must not neglect our dire need for spiritual wisdom in every passing moment.

this is how we navigate the treacherous waters of relationships with God always at the helm guiding us towards tranquil streams.

there is no better way for us to grow in our knowledge of God than by talking to Him and reading His word letting it  talk to us and communicate with our spirits HIs truth and higher purpose for our lives which is more exalted than anything we can conjure up on our own outside His help.

it isn’t actually possible to live without being helped by God cos we wouldn’t  be breathing and our hearts wouldn’t be beating otherwise.

in this modern world it must be stressed that hope should be inseparable from confidence.

too often we see hope misused as a word of uncertainty as if somehow faith is a stronger expression of a guarantee for example we sign our name to a contract in good faith that the person we are signing it for will carry out what they have promised to us and fulfil it.

yet hope has been spending just as much time as the gym.

we should never discount it.

remember faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen.

so without hope faith has no substance.

without faith we are hopeless cases all of us.

I love the visual imagery of being flooded with light.

may we all be stunning floodlights for Christ.

may the evidence of His presence abiding in us made increasingly manifest in all we say and do.

may we fall deeper in love with Him every day and put His love on clear display in the lives of everyone we meet.

if they wonder why we look so indomitably happy it is because we have chosen not to retreat from our faith but to plunge ourselves ever deeper in the river of His love regardless of circumstances.

we just keep our eyes fixed on king Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

in truth we are all called by God but not everyone picks up the telephone.

some say they are too busy for Jesus but in truth we are too busy not to turn to Him cos He lightens our load- remember His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

He says come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest.

He promises us that in this world there will be trouble but we should not worry for He has overcome the world.

we overcome the world by the blood of the lamb and the word of our  testimony.

He is there helping to carry the burden that weighs down our shoulders, be it family responsibilities, hunger, poverty, homelessness or a bad reputation we just cant seem to shake by our own strength.

the word of God says many are called but few are chosen.

we have all been chosen to be God’s children but not everyone decides to invite HIm into their hearts and become a part of His family.

more’s the pity.

what a terrible tragedy to rob yourself of eternity with our magnificent creator to bathe forever in the glory of His presence.

it is wonderful to think that for Christ He does not consider material things to be His inheritance as we often do but us even in our frail fragile mortal state are considered to be His inheritance.

that is so wonderful to think He has claimed us as an investment in His future and ours that He sees a pay off in us a reward for His suffering on the cross.

all the time He was up there He was thinking of those who would love Him as a result of knowing Him intimately.

in every waking moment of His time on earth and even now as He dwells in heaven and the hearts of all who believe ( a profound mystery) you are on His mind.

let us also perceive Him as the reward the awaits us beyond this life not just the place of heaven but the face of the one who owns and created it.

the heart that ever bleeds with love for us and cries with longing for our closeness and rejoices with great exuberance over every sinner who repents becoming a winner on team Jesus.

it is hard for our minds to comprehend the power that lies within us when we choose to accept Christ in our hearts.

it is possible that we are not utilizing it to its full potential otherwise we would see miracles happening all over the place in greater measure than its already occurring.

the more people catch this truth of His power that lies within us if we decide to follow Him the more we will see the dead being raised the sick healed and the demon possessed being liberated becoming a daily occurrence just as in the days of the early church the number of Christians increased with each new set of twenty four hours that appeared beyond the dawning days horizon.

God’s power working through Himself caused Himself in son of God form to be transported into heaven and placed back upon His throne in heaven.

He caused Himself to be risen from the dead and His power enables us to meet Him in the air when He returns to take us home.

some folks will tell you that God stopped working miracles with the conclusion of the book of acts but in truth the book of acts is an unfinished book.

God is working n the lives of those who believe in every single second that slips through our fingers.

once we decide to follow Him let us never slip through His.

when our faith is being oppressed when we are facing persecution for what we believe when we are mocked by our workmates and the voice of the antagonist attempting to drill inside our skull with his evil thoughts its easy to forget who is in control of the universe.

it has been and will always be God.

He stands unrivalled without equal .

there is no foe which matches His ability to stand guard over this world, to protect it from harm and to cause it to reflect His glory.

there is no being in the universe that is able to take  care of every single problem simultaneously either with the declaration of His mouth or the power of His hands and breath.

that’s why He is supreme above all other things living or dead animal vegetable or mineral demon angel or human.

everything in creation has been placed under Gods feet.

the authority has been handed down from His father to son self.

we benefit as the body of Christ from His place of Lordship and headship over us both in the ways His power flows through us and how He provides comfort to us when this world makes us weep and guidance when we need a way out of the trap of our problems or we need to know how to avoid falling into them in the first place.

He makes us look good by association with Him.

in fact we can have no goodness outside of Him whatever our religion or personal convictions may suggest to the contrary.

my second cousin was known to remark that it’s not fair to say that morality cannot exist outside of a relationship with Jesus.

it may not be fair but it’s true for He is the one that is our moral compass who we can rely on as a valuable source of information and inspiration and navigation .

we cannot always depend on our conscience cos it can be bent like a reed in the wind when society dictates a moral direction that is the opposite of God’s intended design for us.

we need a source beyond ourselves both to validate our existence and to keep it on track so we do not stumble into self deceit nor confuse and doom others in our misguided expressions of self or internal bondage.

perhaps the reason why we may lack the feeling of fullness and completion or total satisfaction is dual.

while we are in this body there will always be a longing for heaven within us a divine discontentment He has placed there to get us to hunger and thirst for HIm, for HIs righteousness and its complete expression beyond the grave or in the world to come when He recreates the totality of all that is and ever will be.

the other reason is because we find a greater measure of pleasure from the strength we find together in the building of each other as the body of Christ.

we are co labourers in the harvesting of souls.

we must never think one part of the body is more important or significant than the other.

pastors, ushers, window cleaners and toilet flushers all have their key role to play in the advancement of God’s kingdom here on earth.

in seeing the wealth in others we must also view the treasure of eternal life spent under His wings in the realm of paradise.

it is a marvel to consider that all things are filled with Christ even those who have chosen to reject Him or who remain ignorant of Him.

though they are filled with Him in a different way to those who believe.

they are not active members of His body more like dormant volcanoes.

they do not know the power He has placed within them or they know it exists but they do not credit the source.

it is only in Him that dwells that fullness of the Godhead bodily.

and it is only when we accept Him in our hearts and become a part of His body that He is able to offer us a piece of Himself or the completing peace He gives us when we allow HIM to sit upon the throne of our hearts and govern our thoughts and decisions.

God has hidden eternity in our hearts.

we all have the ability to cry out to Him and make HIm Lord of our lives but sadly not all have chosen to do so.

it is never too late until your last breath to turn away from your wicked ways and avoid burning in hell but who wants to take the chance that this next second to arrive in your life might be your last and your ship has sailed to join in covenant with the great I am, the lamb of God who sees and knows all and loves you unconditionally and wants His agape love to become a part of you as you become a part of Him and breathe in His essence.

to walk in HIs will is to obtain freedom from the chains of enslavement sin locks us in.

in Him we live and move and have our being.

never forget that He wants you to live in abundance and when you depart from this planet His deepest desire is that you wake up in His arms.

unless of course He returns before you get that chance 😉
